Equilibrium

Why do we sail?

Why set off towards a horizon

that shall never be reached?

Adrift in this unforgiving sea,

it seems we can never stop.

We sail close-hauled; sailing

in only 30 degrees of wind.

It’s a perfect equilibrium;

a true balance of the mind and soul,

of our wants versus our needs.

Between the forces of wind in the sails,

the weight of the keel, and held only by

the laws of gravity.

Yes, equilibrium…in the center

of the infinite blue waters.

I know the horizon is my destiny;

sailing is my love, my never-ending journey

waiting for no man, only the wind.
