Happiness

Happiness

written by: Joachim Neander

On the long long way to Tipperary
I met a child
with a smile on its face
and a flower in its hand,
picked at the roadside.

A butterfly
came flying along,
alighted
on top of the bloom.

And the child
shouted and cheered,
butterfly,
danced for delight.

And I realized
what happiness means:

a butterfly on a flower
in the hand of a child
with a smile on its face,
dancing with joy.
