I can't know.

If the grass broken at the field,
if the rose turned from the earth,
if the praying mantis

if the beehive bee,
if the fly on the table,
if the ant in the labyrinth

if the street water microbe,
if the bacterium hidden in the palm,
if the life passing through my hair

If I could go, without making any pain

If I could go, like a man,
and not like a god, and not to take off,
and go, and go,
never, never hurting.

Non posso sapere.

Se l'erba spezzata al campo,
se la rosa strappata alla terra,
se la mantide in preghiera

se l'ape d'alveare,
se la mosca in tavola,
se la formica nel labirinto

se il microbo d'acqua di strada,
se il batterio nascosto nel palmo,
se la vita passante tra i miei capelli

Se potessi andare, senza fare alcun male

Se potessi andare, come un uomo,
e non come un dio, e non togliere,
e andare, e andare,
senza mai, mai ferire.
