LOST

LOST

Lost within myself, awake or sound asleep.

Unable to respond to the chatter all about.

Numb am I, all feeling gone.

Lost, alone, amongst my own.

I see the faces in my midst,

yet I am lost within the crowd.

I hear the voices as they speak.

I turn around, as if I could

but I am lost, I cannot talk.

Why should I feign to feel what’s not?

I am so lost, I dare not care.

What is the matter with the world,

or is it me that has succumbed?

The haze so thick I’ve lost my way.

The void so deep, I’ve disappeared.

Lost to myself within plain sight,

I walk asleep although awake.

Lost to me, lost to all.

I need to live, to laugh, to feel.

To lose this sense of utter loneliness.

I pulled myself out of my man-made hole,

and walked into the Lost and Found.

The fog dispelled, the truth appeared.

I am my own worst enemy.
