My Blood Was Safe

My Blood Was Safe

written by: Matthew J. Lawler

You saved my life with love of truth and grace,
I felt my light dim like a dying star,
I will see the sun, caught by your embrace.

The splash of water covered me with haste,
dazed and drunk I sunk deep into the sharks,
you saved my life with love of truth and grace.

I was a flower plucked, rotting, no vase,
wilting until you pulled me from the mar,
I will see the sun, caught by your embrace.

I fell, but woke to see your shining face,
your wings lifted me and carried me far,
you saved my life with love of truth and grace.

My blood was safe, though floating, lost in space,
you brought me back to earth, birthed in your arms,
I will see the sun, caught by your embrace.

I knelt and tumbled toward the safest place,
my soul now free from harm to see no scar,
you saved my life with love of truth and grace,
I will see the sun, caught by your embrace.
