reflections of she

written by: Rochelle Foles

@shellilouwho

the she
i see
reflected
kcab
at me

is not the me
i know myself
2b.

where is that she?

mirror
mirror
on the wall

can u bring
her
back
at all?

in this place
of
solitude
beyond the space of
light years
between
the inception
of our galaxy
and the end of our

finite
universe

i stand
shoulder
to
shoulder against
the
cold flint cliffs
that confine me

black
every where

terror
beyond
for a girl afraid of the dark

i hear alley echoing around me
"never give up
never say die"

i'm

looking for my ladder
in order
to escape
this
vale of doom

NOTE FROM THE AUTHOR:
depression is one of our nation's most crippling diseases.

everyone experiences it differently and for different durations.

this is my reflection of struggling with bipolar depression and regular old mid-life existential crisis.

yes, it's all around u.
especially in those u least expect.

Rochelle Foles

Rochelle began writing at the age of twelve. Encouraged by her local librarian, she cut her poetic teeth on ee cummings, T.S. Eliot, Walt Whitman and Elizabeth Barrett Browning, all of whom continue to influence her writing today.

She is a logophile and her playful attitude towards words can often be seen in her writing through her use of fonts, space, spelling and design.

She considers it a privilege to be read and to be an active contributor to Spillwords.
