You built a ship of reeds and pitch

At river's edge you laid me down

A subtle tale of bait and switch

A lovely day to watch me drown

Speaking love in whispered voices

Softly lulling me to sleep

Caressed like floral summer breezes

Swinging sweet as willows weep

Cradled in your arms a liar

Innocence of breath escapes

Placed as widows on a pyre

Push me out to where death waits

Forced to follow husbands floating

Heaven's lost in states of mind

Deep as dreams are escalating

All Is Loss to leave behind

In deepest grief we show our fears

The lessons taught we never learn

These bridges washed away with tears

May just as easily be burned

And what is left is all we know

To drown or burn is one the same

Determined as the rivers flow

Contented in your ship of flame

I do not consider myself a writer but I love to write. Neither a poet but I love poetry. I steal bits and pieces of time to scratch out ideas on note books, laptops and cell phones. I live and work in Florida fabricating custom canvas and other fabric products and sometimes costumes.
