  1. Where, do you hail from?

I was born in Wilmington Delaware, and now live in Hockessin, Delaware.  On December 7, 1787 Delaware became the first of the 13 original states to ratify the U.S. Constitution.

  1. What is the greatest thing about the place you call home?

Delaware is a great place to live.  We have access to all the major cities like Philadelphia, New York and Baltimore.  We are driving distance from the ocean and great beaches.  I personally live in a wooded area right next to a nature preserve.

  1. What turns you on creatively?

Life!  I observe all that is around me.  I started off as a visual artist and so I tend to pay attention to the details that surround me.  I now write from experience and observation.  I tend to write about nature and real life experiences, with an ethereal or mystical twist.  I especially love writing about the night and darkness and the peace it brings..

  1. What is your favorite word, and can you use it in a poetic sentence?

Night.

Long fingers of night reach out for evening
embracing her with soft velvet arms

  1. What is your pet peeve?

I tend to be too critical of my own work.  I am always comparing myself to other poets.  I do not want to write like others – I want to be my own voice, but sometimes I see something that excites me and it makes me want to try something new.  I seem to always be searching for who I really am.  I was the same way with painting and illustrating, I had too many styles and not one that defined me.

  1. What defines Ann Christine Tabaka?

I care about people, nature, and the earth.  I am a senior citizen, a wife and mother, and just a person who wants my words to live on after I am no longer on this earth.
