Spotlight On Writers
- Where, do you hail from?
I am fortunate to have lived in several remarkable places. Currently, I have homes on the southwest coast of Florida and the low country of South Carolina.
- What is the greatest thing about the place you call home?
Natural beauty abounds in both locations. The southern gulf coast of Florida mesmerizes me with its lush, tropical landscape, incredible wildlife, amazing turquoise waters and powdery beaches. My heart is also owned by the low country of South Carolina with its ancient, moss- draped live oaks, verdant marshes, and tidal creeks, teeming with life.
- What turns you on creatively?
Love; predictable, right? I have been in love with words, colors, textures and all tactile sensations associated with art, books and literature from an early age.
- What is your favorite word, and can you use it in a poetic sentence?
I want to blurt out the word love…but actually, it is the shimmering experience of love to which I am drawn.
The shimmering expression of love, the endless possibilities of this life with which we are gifted leaves me gasping in wonder.
- What is your pet peeve?
My pet peeve has always been negativity and those who have closed their minds to all of the beauty that surrounds us as human beings. I may be naïve but I truly believe that if we could just open our minds, accept and love one another for those things that make us unique and special, this world would be a much better place in which to live.
- What defines Kathleen Truax Kamrada?
I suppose that I may be defined by my passion for serving others and for my love of words. My youth was spent in the company of those who instilled not only a passion for service but also a love for art and literature in my heart. I have tried throughout my life, in my profession, to serve others and help in any way possible. As a child, I would also find refuge in my books. I began writing in elementary school and have never stopped. My childhood dreams revolved around living in exotic locations and having a library with floor to ceiling bookshelves. I have been fortunate to achieve these dreams but will always hope to be remembered as a person who made a small difference in this world.
A lifelong bibliophile and writer, I am now beginning to share my words with others.
