The Games Begin
written by: Paul Anthony Obey
Don’t believe the hype of a crushing defeat,
We all love it, but too much isn’t good for you,
Plan for the inevitable annihilation,
Making many practice runs before deemed safe,
Everyone judging, not sure who is who,
Push on unflinching to the end,
Rear this fledgling ramshackle,
Eager to serve, flatter to deceive,
They’re tanks on our lawns, land forth on the sand,
Covertly, knowledgeable about each of them,
Sit tight, show no weakness,
The trap of their praise best untrusting.
Paul has worked within the Social Housing environment for all his adult life in one guise or another, but has recently decided to write full time to share a view and hopefully inspire reaction in others to take another look at life, beyond the confines of self, question the generally accepted truth and make the World a better place for everyone. One step at a time!
My work is dedicated to all of those who believe in what I am trying to do and to some of those who don’t yet get it.
