The Hidden Me

written by: Sheri M. Stewart

I am crying on the inside,
where no one but I can see.
Silent teardrops fall,
noticed by none but me.

The face I present to the world,
shows only love and care,
and even though I laugh,
no one knows the pain I bear.

People see me as they like,
rejecting what they don't admire.
No one wants the all of me,
for that there is no buyer.

They want the illusion I present,
but not me and me alone.
I'm rejected for my true face,
so I hide and quietly atone.

I am interested in and fascinated by so many things in the world around me. I am a dreamer and a lover. I endure great pain and sadness. I am bi-polar. I have learned to embrace the many facets of who I am. I chose to view my illness as just another part of what makes me unique. I write as a form of self-expression and art. I share in the hopes that others can identify with my writing and know they are not alone.
