THE MOVING WALKWAY

The moving walkway
Is coming to an end
Please watch your step

You could say it's much too late
To compromise the choices made
To carry on or sit and wait
Shake foundations that we laid
Fragile houses slid like sand
Blue sky days are long forgotten
Boarding pass and bags in hand
Grey clouds for the misbegotten

The moving walkway
Is coming to an end
Please watch your step

Sad to say my plane's on time
Life is turning out of sync
Not much farther to my gate
Find yourself a missing link
You said this was the only way
To take us from point a to z
Let the cards fall where they may
Give you space and set you free

The moving walkway
Is coming to an end
Please watch your step

Slowly floating ever forward
As my life is standing still
It's a path that I must follow
Being pushed against my will
The sky's the limit for your heartache
The space you need can fill an ocean
My options have become your nightmares
My love for you a vain devotion

The moving walkway
Is coming to an end
Please watch your step

Baggage claims and carousels
A state of mind too small for us
Who's to blame it's hard to tell
Questions kill the curious
You told me I should move along
I said I would to save my face
And now the timing is all wrong
To ever find a saving grace

The moving walkway
Is coming to an end
Please watch your step

I'm standing still but moving forward
Blank faced people pass me by
Everything I want is backwards
Never really liked to fly
Said you never really loved me
It's just a part you had to play
As distant as the ground below me
Reflecting as I fly away
