Till The Break

Till The Break

How do you know
Why you stay awake?
      Here comes the sunshine
You hadn’t had enough to sleep

Get done working early in early a.m.
Couldn’t stop all night
      And before you know it
You can see the light

Daybreak starts to crawl out of bed
A luxury you don’t know very well
Drive around early, an alert mind
This time is peace, or is it hell?

You been going a long time
Trying to stay straight
And still staying up, Lord
Always up, till the break

Music used to be all you needed
But now you see it’s different things
You sit around biding your time
But you can’t get the urges out of your mind

Wake up in the afternoon
You want to get up early, but not too soon
You need something to start the day off right
To calm me down, get you tight

Sometimes your mind drifts and you wonder
What road you want to take
The roll and rumble of thunder
You can’t move forward, but you can’t wait

Live life like a gambler
Got to play it straight
     Cause before you know it
You’re six feet in your grave

You been going a long time
Trying to stay straight
And still staying up, Lord
Always up, till the break
