Trails of Mascara

written by: Sofia Kioroglou

Her eyebrows the form of an arch
The telltale trails of mascara
A frantic scuttle to dissemble a tear
over a limerence as fleeting as petrichor

Who said love is not a rose?
It always wilts, fragile glass
Painful shards sticking out of the skin
Stinging prickles on the heart and soul
