A New Beginning

A New Beginning

written by: Francisco Bravo Cabrera

Without a second thought and without a single care,
looking at the brilliant sky,
wondering what star would guide my way,
wondering what treasure I would find,
I started on a long, long way,
singing something mother taught me,
laughing softly to myself
thinking of what mother would say
if she could only hear me…

The sky was black as black can be,
and stars shone forth as neon beacons,
with one, so large, so strange, so grand,
that I felt something different in this land,
had taken place…

And walking now with quickened pace
I felt the cool wind on my face,
I heard the songs from nearby homes,
the songs of hope,
the cheers of joy,
for something marvellous
had happened,
a baby born,
history shattered,
and new beginnings
were to be
for everyone,
that we’ll all see…

NOTE FROM THE AUTHOR:

Christmas time is a time for contemplation, for renewal, for knowledge that we are much, much more than mere chemicals animated by electrical charges within the body. We are spirit and we have an immortal soul and we are connected to greatness. My thoughts for Christmas are of peace, of unity, of tolerance and acceptance and for hope in a better world. Like John Lennon said:

And so this is Christmas (ooh)
For weak and for strong (ooh)
For rich and the poor ones (ooh)
The war is so long (ooh)
And so happy Christmas (war is over)
For black and for white (if you want it)
For yellow and red ones (war is over)
Let’s stop all the fight (now)
