A Romance Blooming
written by: Linda M. Crate
@thysilverdoe
if i loved her,
and she loved me;
then we’d be two
lovers
twined in a kinship—
romance sometimes
blooms in the most unexpected
of places,
but should you come after
my beloved
then you will taste your blood
as my thorns cut into you
sharper than the fangs
of a vampire;
because love is love
and we don’t deserve to be judged
for who we are—
we didn’t choose this,
no one deserves discrimination;
and no one deserves death simply for
existing as who they are—
she and i
will forever hold hands
even should you put us through
hell
because we know heaven
is in the gaze of her eyes meeting mine;
heaven is in every held hand and kiss and
day blessed with rainbows—
we are queer,
but no longer are we ashamed.
