After the Second Death

God Observes a Moment of Silence

written by: Massayan Favor Kollie

Thunderstorm, windy wind, chill breeze,
echo through his ears, he is still still;
raining season lightning moved him not, still chill;
static, town crier cried, he heard him not.

There is a rush in the village,
the villagers must meet at the market square;
a boy who lost his mother has lost his father;
that is the message the town crier aired.

Yet, he is still still;
nodding his head, not to a joyful melody,
but to the beats of grief, the tone of sorrow.

Mourning his mother, his shoulder tapped;
it was an elder;
he had lost his father.

Moments of silence struck;
dilemma clocked,
his heart raced, filled with rage,
he fell to his knees, hands on his head.

Now a lost cause in a lost world;
in his silent sound, no one stops to listen,
even God was observing a moment of silence;
thus, a young Christian became an atheist.
