Against Hypocrisy
written by: Anna Canić
I pray for peace…
I try to,
But in fact
I’ve hardly known what it is.
Is it my fault?
For many years I fought
For art –
Those made to crawl
Can’t stand to see me fly
That’s why.
For friendship –
I believed it’s free
Like meant to be
Stay here, go far –
Nobody takes you as you are.
For love –
I bled,
I had to choose…
Don’t ask me how.
I lost, but you still lose.
For now
I came back tough –
Too wild
To stay aside,
Too lofty to abhor,
So if you please
Let’s pray against the war –
We’ll try to,
But in fact
You don’t know what it is.
