And Still I Seek

And Still I Seek

written by: Elizabeth Bonsera

Perhaps this may seem like an obvious one:
I look back in wonder at the things that I’ve done.

Jumped from bridges and rooftops and planes flying high,
oh, the freedom of tumbling right out of the sky.

There’s something about it—the thrill and the rush,
that whispers, “Come closer,” in the still, quiet hush.

Go ahead, go ahead, go ahead, dare me.
I’ve got this, I’ve got this, I’ve got this, you hear me?
’Cause two tons, and cocked guns, and dark ones don’t scare me.

There is nothing to fear
when the spirit takes flight—

through the mist of the mountains, the valleys, the peaks,
I remember the silence where grandmother speaks.

Where the waves crash above
and still waters run deep,
my heart skips a beat, and my soul, she may weep

in sadness and joy and wonder and love,
at the beauty within and the sky up above.

I’ve searched for the answers in shadow and light,
through questions that kept me awake in the night.

I’ve sought out the meaning in temples and dreams,
in whispers of medicine, rivers and streams.

Yet the farther I’ve wandered, the more I have found
that the thing I was seeking was never unfound.
