Fathima Ruhi A., a South Asian student living in New Brunswick, Canada, finds poetry to be her refuge outside of her academic and extracurricular activities. As an eager writer, she views poetry as a voice of acknowledgment, empathy, and protest—values reflected in all her work. She initially wrote only for her classes, then shared her poetry on social media where she later deleted her accounts out of fear of judgment and doubt, “Who is ever going to read this?” Now, she hopes to share more of her work to show people they are not alone.
