She has recently begun to write flash fiction and poetry. She enjoys the work of South Asian authors such as Arundhati Roy, Rohinton Mistry and Amitav Ghosh, Latin American writers such as Isabel Allende and Gabriel García Marqúez, among others. She is enjoying the flash fiction form and the spur it provides to hone the craft. She divides her time between writing, traveling, taking care of her granddaughters and occasionally rock climbing. Caregiving has been and continues to be an important part of her life. Writing has always anchored her, in one form or another.
