Autumn

Autumn

written by: JOHN BAVERSTOCK

Fallen leaves now line the paths,
Summer had slipped away,
Woodland trees stripped bare,
Looking somber and forlorn,
The once warming sun, now gone,
Replaced by masses of grey cloud,
Cool breeze, accompanied by heavy drops of rain,
A parched dried out brook,
Has water running through it once again,
The new Season,
Never goes unnoticed,
Evidence of its presence,
Strewn all over the park,
Laughter from children now falls silent,
As Swings are left standing still,
Park benches sit unoccupied,
Summer now sent into exile,
Signifies that Autumn has truly arrived….
