Bees’ Nest in My Chest

Bees’ Nest in My Chest

written by: Calypso

I feel the way I do because of the bees’
nest inside my chest
The bees are stirred by the smallest thing
and swarm around, stinging my heart
when I say something or other or nothing
at all it angers them
When I forget to turn the light off
or close my closet door before dark
If I break routine or if someone looks
at me oddly
They live inside and torment me no
matter how much I beg for it to
stop, it never does
They fly and I swat and I breathe but they sting and
sting and sting until my
swollen heart can’t take it anymore.
Even after they calm, my heart aches in
the aftermath, and when my wounds
finally start to heal, I do something to
wake again, stir the bees’ nest inside my
chest.
