Blurred Horizons

The sky was molten caramel
As they left their footsteps imprinted in the sand
Silence simmered like the heatwaves glimmering on the horizon
And heavy hearted he shot a glance towards
The lithe sweating bodies of the volleyball players
He knew all about the handball of blame
He’d never envisaged this moment
He’d never thought it would hurt so much
And now the words were spoken
It was like tap dancing on broken eggshells
You can never retract the words of a damaged love.
