Briars and Brambles

Briars and Brambles
thicket and thorn
attempt to impede
my journey born
Prickly thorns
sting and smart
testing resolve
challenging heart
Tangles of branches
blackberry and rose
bittersweet days
entwined in life’s prose
Greenbrier vines
twist and ensnare
obscuring the path
creating despair
Darkness and woes
worry and care
in spite of it all
albeit the fare
Ne’er will they ever
detract or delay
destined am I
worries allay
In spite of life’s snares
the thicket and thorn
awaiting me will be
sweet roses reborn

Why write?
I write because I am:
Driven to distraction by the inequities of the society in which we live.
Motivated by cruelty, abuse, ignorance and indifference.
My intention: To poke, prod and provoke!
"Moderation is a fatal thing. Nothing succeeds like excess." - Oscar Wilde
