Change

The world is going to change
like a snake sheds its skin for growth.
It will slither with shinier scales sans spoil and parasites
to spread the good word among gullible hearts.
Maids will rest their tired feet on footstools cushioned with empathy,
Mistresses will sweep back entitlement and mop forth equality.
Wealth will work like a see-saw, the rich lifting the poor.
Help will gush from the fountain of compassion, not move pawns on a chessboard.
Unstinting acclaim for virtue will abound,
Viewed through the lens of objectivity wiped without hanky panky.
There will be kind words and none where they don’t matter,
Words will cut the suffocating wreaths of injustice.
Every interaction will see a mirror in the other,
It won’t lament shortcomings or other the strange.
Queer will be unconventional, not unacceptable as told by no dictionary.
Man will respect woman knowing Eve fed Adam the fruit of knowledge and free will,
Woman will wield a scythe to chop the form changing heads of patriarchy,
She will pat the cheek of progeny and sign the dotted lines of power.
Experience bestows the bittersweet gift of wisdom; will there be change?
Hope rooted in being the change you want to see is a mighty good reason to believe.
