Come Rain on Me

Come Rain on Me

written by: Heather Noel Marie Mirassou

The sound of crackling glass
fills my ears and awakens something sleeping.
A veil of steamy haze beckons me,
drawing me barefoot into the night.

Naked, I tap-dance upon silver bubbles,
while sweet nectar gathers on my tongue.
Humid rain falls warm against my skin,
cooling the places still sizzling with summer.

The stars burn brighter than I remember,
scattered like diamonds across black velvet.
The moon lies tucked inside her cradle,
rocked quietly behind a curtain of clouds.

Mother Nature raises her hand toward me,
her wet fingers brushing across my face.
I lift my arms and surrender,
come, rain on me.
