Contradictions

Contradictions

It’s a contradiction,
Loving, holding,
You in Winter
When the summer springs
Your heart.

It’s a compulsion,
no, obsession,
Tearing my hands
From the hair
I tethered in this frosty time.

It’s a name,
Another name,
That passes your lips
As you kiss my breast
So soon.

Sleeping comes easily, wearily,
When we leave the past behind,
But those eyes hide the hopes
You wish to find.

It’s a confusion,
Even a protrusion,
As I tuck my shirt in,
Uttering thank you’s
and love you’s I shouldn’t.

It’s a violation,
Frustrated boredom,
Waiting in turn for
The time I’ll ask you
To stay.
