Disentangle or Liberate

Disentangle or Liberate

written by: O’Nika M

Shackled to outdated ways
Keeping to tradition
Acts that do not advance
Forward way of thinking

The chain is linked since
Many generations ago
But wait, we can break it
A process hard to conceive

Fraught with conviction
Paralyzed by affliction
Afraid to speak your mind
Hesitant to take up space

The chain feels tight
Hardened and cold
If only we can be bold
Join together and fight

We can freely walk the street
Feel free to drink and eat
Take any available seat
Let go of the feeling of defeat

The chains we have broken
The chains only a token
Never felt better to be outspoken
Enjoying free liberties, mind awoken
