Falling Star
written by: Sharon P Wilson
A fading orange sun dips into the horizon.
An amber globe, sinking in the distance,
Taking with it a world of emotions.
How I met you on the longest day,
A silhouette, a vision of a glimpsed future,
Only to sink like a falling star, before a blossoming,
Before a blooming brilliance.
How you illuminated the deepest
Part of my soul, shone a torch on the bleakness;
Brightening, healing, soothing, transforming –
My very world.
How I loved you then – and love you, still.
How the longest distance couldn’t keep me from you.
The sun may fade, the years may lapse,
And even as my youth is a far-off memory,
Know this; my feelings will never dim.
In the afterglow of this softest hour,
In the hazy stillness, the memory of you,
Forever young will be.
