Feather Weight

Feather Weight

written by: Ms. Fish

The sugarcoated shrapnel
you spoon-fed my heart
Gutted me like a fish until the sap
spilled from my spleen
Turning my rib cage inside out and
Releasing the feathers from the lining of my lungs
The threadbare side body of my liver
is reluctant to stretch
And easy to overlook
And now the weight of a single bird
Threatens to splinter my alabaster bones
