Four Poems
written by: Mehmet Faruk Habiboğlu
I stopped and looked at the clock
It’s well past midnight
My coffee in the cup is finished
My cigarette is long out
Songs are playing softly on the radio
Turning on and on
My parrots are asleep
Books scattered on the table
Unfinished poems
A baby crying upstairs
The streets are silent
It just came to my mind
All the cities I’ve visited
Without you
I should get up and roll a cigarette
I should wrap myself in smoke
Breath by breath
Sip by sip
Accompanied by bitter coffee
Until morning
Four poems to four walls
I should write
And cry
I should write
And cry…
