Halls of Heroes

Silent statues stand cold and dead,
metal bodies of all warmth bled
lining walls with spectral bodies
frozen in this hall of heroes.
Past battles memories as fire
upon wooden beds of a pyre.
Legends made now bardic stories
frozen in this hall of heroes.
Fights won with naught a warriors’ will,
concrete swords once made of steel still.
Silence reigning of past glories,
frozen in this hall of heroes.
Verona loves to write dark poetry, horror and speculative fiction short stories. She also loves to weave her love for the paranormal and supernatural into her stories.
