Heartbeat

As the sun went down,
I let you go,
As the feelings show
Of the fool I once was
I stand alone
As the night slowly began to weep
You are no where in sight
As I fall down to my knees
Silence pierces the cold night air
The flames slowly burn your path
As I lay frozen in the uncertainty of the moment
the words you never said
Began to bleed
As everything falls slowly apart…
For a moment,  everything went still
And in the distance I could hear
A strong and radiant beating heart,
Some stranger in the night I thought
Balancing life and love
Stars and rain
And everything in between
That stranger was you
That stranger was me…
Long nights of poetry and piano
Nights of love and dreams
Story telling from your lips
Tattooing your soul on my dreams
As in a silent movie
There.
That’s where I will be,
Waiting for a moment that will never save me
Waiting for the light to shine within.
And the years have passed
And I turned to stone,
I can still hear
The heartbeat…

MAY 2016 AUTHOR OF THE MONTH at Spillwords.com
My name is Natalia, I was born in Puerto Rico. I live a very simple life with my husband and 2 beautiful kids.
I keep my heart humble, and my words beautifully vulnerable.
I write because it is in my soul.
I write because I don't know how to live without it.
There's something beautiful that only poetry can create in your soul.
