Hearts of Oak

Hearts of Oak

written by: Tony Ashenden

Close by this ancient bole of oak
arms outstretched; my fingers spread
I feel the riven bark respond
breathe on me; age-old pictures
records of men, animals, birds.

In a nano-nick-of-time memories
are made aware from deep within
its wooden seasoned rings of age.
Snake-like knowledge revealed to me
soaring upward through my soul gate.

The purpose of moments witnessed;
the tying of Gordian knots.
Whirlpooling fast moving events
elemental cycles of change;
calendar of birth and rebirth.

From the root of Yggdrasil
sensing you I am timeless too,
BodyMind has ceased to age.
This tree is unifying me
ring on ring for eternity.
