I Leave – (Hypermania)

I Leave – (Hypermania)

written by: Pedro la Fuego

I leave

I’m slightly elevated

Somewhat verbose
Vivid and insightful.

I speak quickly

I don’t think I’m elevated

It’s convenient
And not so convenient

Diminished responsibility

Of not seeing yourself
Of not caring

Immersive

Lost in shadows and light

You depart from the normal

Eyes peer out
Through divine windows

A becoming
A possession

By Loki and Dionysus
Epicurean excess follows

And rages

A fire in my belly
And I’m drawn elsewhere

It’s more an issue of energy
Than mood

Dramatically altered
Unobserved

Energising illumination
Of soul and ego

Endorphins and serotonin – available

And you chase
Vim
With
vigour

And a whim
leads to a vice

You chase the high
Your folly

You go to bars and off licences,

grand vistas,
you run with the deer

And crawl through mists
Awakening on the grass wet

You go to strip clubs
rather than casinos

Better women
Than financial destitution

Choose your vice

Then the homeless
And the street cleaners
With the rising sun

Understand I will not falter
Will not fail

I see my self
And fall in on myself

Hopelessly the mirror smiles
Keep on falling in it

Your vanity
Skin deep

Just above the crust
Beneath shatters

The void not seen
Not existing
Repeating

I chase the high
The substance
Follows

The poison
The hangover
never the lesson learned

I awake
My wife
Questions
Blackness
Energy
Whim
