I Ran with Him

I Ran with Him

written by: Ernest Federspiel

I ran with him, he was my friend, or so he said
We partied all night and gazed at the sunlight
True bonds were forged in flames of lustful fun

Time went by and we managed to survive it all
Running wild and pushing it to the edge of sanity
Enjoying today, not worrying about the what-ifs

There were few tears but many cold times arose
Troubles seemed to ebb and flow in my mind
Time broke the bonds our mutual trust beheld

Words spoken in the heat of life’s wanting desires
No thinking of the cause and effects it would bring
I opened my eyes to finally see the truth behind lies

I searched my soul to find true direction I sought
A new friend to walk beside in life and beyond
What I found was there all along, I just didn’t know

So when you are feeling down, look up instead
Realize that the future is your decision alone
Walk into the flaming lake of hell or not, your choice
