I’ll be Your Mankind

I’ll be Your Mankind

written by: Anushka Sharma

I’ll be your mankind
When all that is left is a pot pie
Half-empty and cooling off
When running seems too much and you can’t bring yourself to walk
When stars stay still and don’t leave till
They are piercing you from inside out
Knives of silver shimmering with red
Promising nothing I can’t keep
Shivering on the floor with you
Till all the wetness has consumed you and you’re okay
There on the dirty sofa, soaked in you
With London calling you
And the TV mute, big screen
With a book in your hand that makes no sense
Flashes of white, orange, and yellow till you’re finally asleep in the morning
The remote sliding onto the book
Nothing too loud to wake you
Nothing will ever be too loud to wake you now.
Hold my hand and find your door
So you’ll know you are home.
