Inspiration Without Adaptation

He goes in his closet and
picks a disguise for the day.

He doesn’t know how to be himself.
He doesn’t know whose voice will come out.
He doesn’t write in his own style.
He doesn’t remember what he believes in.

He wrote four letters:
One in the voice of Fitzgerald
One in the voice of Thompson
One in the voice of Hemingway
One in the voice of Bukowski

Finding inspiration without
adaptation is a hard thing to accomplish.
