Love

Love

written by: E.G Sterrett

One might say love is gentle, soft, and kind
A word whispered in comfort in the night
But in my heart, a fiercer thing I find
A burning heart that sets the dark alight

It isn’t just the absence of pain
Not promises made when skies are all blue
It is the strength that helps you stand again
The steady anchor pulling safely through

It dares to gaze upon the deepest flaw
It sees the value others might not see
Accepts the person, jagged and quite raw
Believing in the soul that fights to be

Let them keep their words whispered soft and low
Love’s the flame that helps us grow
