Magellan

Mother rolls a flat bread.
It expands. It forges a planet.
Magellan, I am. My tongue
circumnavigates the being
inherited from my mother.

My mother does not have
to struggle for me. She has
to fight a battle with me,
the Magellan, explorer
of my own heart, always confused
because the territory comes
too raw to map.
