My Little Gypsy

My Little Gypsy

Fiery jade eyes pierced the night,
leading me to you.

Seeking shelter from the wild,
abandoned as you were.

Hungry for food and touch,
you were an easy catch.

A tiny fluff of gray and peach,
a tortoiseshell beauty.

Never had I seen
a face as sweet as yours.

Ball of playful purrs,
and mouser supreme,

you filled my life with love
for close to eighteen years.

Now a small satin box
holds the remains of my heart.

How can I live without you,

my little Gypsy cat?
