My Yearning

My Yearning

written by: Nicole Jia

From the moment I layed eyes on you,
Something deep within started to grow.
This feeling I’d never felt, was brand new
But I welcomed and fostered its glow.

As time passed I started to understand
That you also fostered a glow;
When with every upset you held my hand
And helped me through trauma from long ago.

This glow now runs through my veins and body
From head to toe, fingertip to fingertip.
The feeling of love that I now embody
Is far stronger than any military ship.

You’re not my number one, but my only one.
Maybe you feel the same, maybe you don’t.
Only time will tell if I’m yet your sun
But if not, to give up I’m sure I won’t.
