Not Worth The Rain

Not Worth The Rain

written by: Judge Burdon

he was on the short end of a losing dream
she smoked the last cigarette of faith
running out of time and out of breath
she couldn’t whisper a scream
he knew the catch wasn’t worth the chase

they were headed where the wounded run
but the scars never heal
where does love go when it dies both floating
on sinking water bad blood under the bridge
they found out why there is a good and goodbye

he never heard the back door close
when she stepped into gone
the only sound was his heart starting to break
she put a key on the table
with unsolicited memories
left with nothing
because there wasn’t anything left to take

how many tears have to fall
to drown the pain
first suspect is twisted fate
when pointing the blame
saying it’s better to have loved and lost
depends on how deep a wound you sustained
sometimes the flower isn’t worth the rain
