On We Rave

On We Rave

Paradise found on island time
Island feel
Summer hadn’t officially started, but it had started for me in a t-shirt, shorts, and sandals
Flying kites by the south shore lighthouse
Wonderfully real in sun-kissed colors
I felt on top of the world there
Where death could result
Those bluffs
Unstable
Instability inspiring and unsettling the Atlantic waves crashing hundreds of feet below
Out of reach of the edge
Different shades of blue
Different tunes of blues
Birds flying with their catch
Or birds flying and singing with their mates
A lovely breeze that took me to my knees
And had me praying for more
Moments like these
beauty to beauty
life to life.
And I let my feet get dirty, my hair coated with sea spray and sweat
Lost track of the days
Watching the sunsets behind treetops
What was said or left unsaid to all that wind and to
The last bits of light of a beautiful trip
I was seeing a pattern
And left the spiders spinning webs in the corners of the windows overlooking the land and sea
And paradise lost off island time
