Open Season

Open Season

written by: James Yesley

A battle of words.
Whose tongue is sharper?
One seeks the truth.
The other, deals only in cowardice.
Excuses, scapegoats.
Even they are led to slaughter.
I suppose the wolves need to eat too.
Eat they shall, until the next “fast.”
For the moment, time is slow.
But it catches up and slips away.
Boys grow to be men.
Excuses wear thin.
The scapegoat population,
Not quite what it used to be.
It dwindles down.
What are you left with?
You can’t even admit that it’s nothing…
