Past, Present and Present

Past, Present and Present

written by: Abdellatif Raja

All hail the snaky trace,
The serum it used to embrace.
O green dale,
Why be you so pale?

Dimmed water,
Son and father,
What do they admire most?
The river and its green ghost.

High on a bridge.
The father be crying by the edge.
His son, held by confusion, does he stand,
Wishing he could understand.

Glittering eyes of innocence,
Shimmering eyes from the Renaissance.
– “Father, why do you cry?”
– “Son, I am bluer than the sky!”

He tries to illuminate.
No father can to that commit,
– “It’s just the wind, son.”
All hail the wind, screw the sun!

He be not so experienced, nor old,
That beaming six-year-old.
His father be of wisdom,
Yet he be cursing autumn.

Why is life so fluctuating?
All that hoisted his cheer
Is now feeding a deer.
Why is he so fluctuating?

– “All on it, son, all
Shall perish and vanish.
All on it, son, all
But God’s holy face.”

Life is much more of a pickle when
You can’t elaborate,
When you can’t narrate.
Matters that? kabhee haan kabhee nahin.

Life is life.
And so, he takes his boy’s hand
Towards comfort, the loving wife,
And be his son’s soul never of sand.
