Perfume

Perfume

written by: Paul Thwaites

You, the perfume of my air ~
This that is breathed, a worthy breath of days,
The comment moment with a twist of scent
On throat or wrist nuanced,
Seductive with captive sighs.

Undulating scheme of silk,
Scarved and chiffonous; smoke in a breeze,
Detects there, some word of you,
Something said, unpassing ~
A light among trees,
In summer signatures of pollen,
A whisper and a kiss.

Nights giddy with romance
Distil the light,
Gown easy draperies of giving;
A captive scent of evening,
Is spectral essence on the empty air ~
A phantom speaking its name:
There, not there, there, not there.
