Periphrasis

Periphrasis

written by: Shaun Tenzenmen

The fragile beating organ pretends
it is more than heart—
can it be bought?

This time of conflict and sorrow
was just war from the start—
one without thought.

Whether economical with the truth
does lying have a place
to be taught?

Whether beating about the bush
or cutting to the chase—

the bird is caught.
