Poetry Is What I Do When I Am Slippery

Poetry is what I do
When I want to immortalise the
Memories of loss latched onto my skin
Poetry is what I do to live
What I do for a living
What I do to shame death
What I do to pretend nothing is dying
What I do to hold my tears to ransom
What I do when everything is meaningless
What I do to patch my crumbling walls
Poetry is what I do when I am slippery
What I do when my tongue is heavy with truth
What I do to let raging emotions lie
What I do to appease my guts
What I do to drag everything that feels distant
Into the full grasp of my destiny
